All student submit a research proposal that chooses a topic of interest. After it has been approved, students begin their project with guided research in the classroom. We will dedicate considerable classroom time and resources to research on the internet, in the school media center, as well as other sources such as the town library.
CLASSROOM GUIDED RESEARCH
After the guided research is completed, all students must organize their findings in note form and submit them to the teacher for review and approval. Once this is done, each student has to choose one of four paths to pursue. These four paths are listed below. Once a path has been chosen, you must commit to completing it to the end without changing it. If you do not, your project will not receive full credit.
PATH A
If you are interested in an especially challenging project, you may choose to develop and inquiry-based lab investigation with your research and try to qualify for the Connecticut Science Fair. The project must meet all of the criteria defined by the CSF website and be ready for display at Science Night. There are up to 10 extra credit points available for this type of project.
PATH B
You may choose to synthesize your research into a display at the Academic Fair. The project must meet all of the criteria defined by the rubric that is associated with this project. It will be displayed during this event and up to10 extra credit points will be earned toward your second quarter grade.
PATH C

PATH D
